Hybrid Cables for Data and Power Transmission
Solifos has unique depth of experience with combined fiber-optic data and power transmission cables. Our hybrid fiber-optic cable solution opens up new possibilities for transmitting both data and power in a single thin cable. Hybrid cables are available for voltages up to 1000 VAC or 1500 VDC and enable the transmission of up to 24 kW with just a 6mm diameter cable. They are based on the proven BRUmil und BRUfield tactical field cables.

Advantages
Fiber optic – copper cable for field deployment
This hybrid cable was developed for field deployment when not only fiber-optic data transmission but also power transmission are needed. ICT technologies enable this with copper-base PoE (Power over Energy) interfaces so that a remote device can be connected with data and power simultaneously. Unfortunately, copper-based data cables have a maximum transmission distance of 100m and a limited data rate of 1 Gb/s. Solifos’ fiber-optic hybrid cables break free of these limitations.
Fiber-optic-Copper Hybrid cables dramatically expand possibilities:
- Short distance connections of 50-100m with 40Gb/s data and 20kW power transmission
- Middle-distance connections like 3km with 40 Gb/s transmission and 3kW power transmission
- Very long data connections up to 100km with 40 Gb/s with remote mixing and signal amplifier
Solifos has the necessary equipment and accessories to enable the benefits from hybrid cables. These are in this case:
- Certified hybrid cable military plug connectors with lense connector technology (similar MIL-DTL-83526/20 und /21)
- Remote mixing with power transformers and integrated fiber-optic data transmission systems
- Power/Data distributor unit that enables user-specific power and data interfaces

Application Examples
Line of Sight Radio
Typical hybrid cable application for line of sight radio communication. High speed data connections are made over the fiber-optic cable and power for the wireless transmitter is supplied through the copper wire in the same hybrid cable, thereby eliminating the need for a separate generator.
Installed Products:
Video Surveillance Systems
Hybrid cables are also used for mobile video surveillance systems. Here the cameras and sensors are networked via the glass fibers of the hybrid cable and simultaneously supplied with power.
